Biodynamic Agriculture interview for the film The challenge of Rudolf Steiner’




Im back to Singapore from IPMT Biodynamic Agriculture course. I’ve been deeply touched by the earth, I’ve felt the rhythm of the universe, and I’ve heard the tune of my soul. I fell in love.

From being in the so call glamorous, superficial, cold and materialistic fashion industry, I made a tough decision to flee away and persue what i believe is my calling. I also made a overnight decision to be a vegetarian and stop smoking.

Life for me have been from extreme ends to extreme ends so far. I’ve never felt more warmth than what I felt in the one week IPMT course. And I just cant wait to visit a biodynamic herbalist farmer/bee keeper and a Gandhian farmer I got to know from this class in Kuala Lumpur next week. Probably cameron highlands the week after.

and why biodynamic? because we and the earth/universe are one, a fact you just cant deny.

Becoming a farmer

I have recently signed  up for The International Postgraduate Medical Training (IPMT) that involves Anthroposophic medicine that was inaugurated by Rudolf Steiner, Ph.D. (1861-1925) with the cooperation of Ita Maria Wegman, M.D. (1876-1943). This medical approach integrates in a holistic way mainstream medical research and the dimension of anthroposophic spiritual research for understanding the nature of body, soul and spirit.

One of the course that will be my focus is biodynamic agriculture, which will be lectured by Hans van Florenstein Mulder. Hans lives in New Zealand and is the Representative of the General Anthroposophical Society in Asia.

He has been a Waldorf high school teacher in science and horticulture for many years and also owned a biodynamic demeter farm in New Zealand for 26 years. Waldorf education is also a education system that i strongly believe in. The early years education focuses on providing practical, hands-on activities and environments that encourage creative play. In the elementary school, the emphasis is on developing pupils’ artistic expression and social capacities, fostering both creative and analytical modes of understanding. Secondary education focuses on developing critical understanding and fostering idealism. Throughout, the approach stresses the role of the imagination in learning and places a strong value on integrating academic, practical and artistic pursuits.

this kind of education system is just so creative, non stereotypical and at the same time believing in different potentials in every child. How i wish i was enrolled to one of these school when i was a child. I’m in excruciating excitement about this course i’m going to attend in Penang (malaysia). I’ve heard many good things about Penang and I like how a small town like that will hold a yearly event to throw enzyme mud balls into their coast line to clean up some pollution. Kind of wish that Singapore will do that too, our sea is only getting dirtier by the day and no one really cares.

Personally, I feel that farming biodynamically is the utmost important health of the eco system as well as the farm, the harmony of the universe and you, from the dirt to the farmer to the rain to all the pollinators and many more. I would call it ‘Synergy’ incorporating with the principle of giving more to the earth than one takes.

A film I find extremely intriguing and inspiring.
